ueenie, the Wonder Husky watched her mistress, Sgt. Wormgear, proudly as she hummed a little tune, brushed her hair and happily thought about polishing the silver studs on her freshly aired-out Mountie underpants. It wasn't often that the Sgt. hummed a happy tune. Usually, she was whispering desperate orders through clenched teeth as she was about to lay waste to yet another of the Yukon's most wanted.
But, this night was different. Even though the wind still howled across the frozen arctic tundra with its usual bone-chilling ferocity, tonight, the Sgt. had set aside to pretty-up her wind-weathered hide and go out on a blind date with a man she had met, only through a series of hand-written notes exchanged via a blind box at the "Yellow Snow Sentinel."
"Queenie, it's been so long since I've been with a man of the opposite sex! I'm so excited!" Queenie responded with a low growl and a quick series of staccato barks. The Sgt. nodded as she looked in the mirror at a few pesky chin hairs. "You're right, Queenie...that was badly crafted grammar." Queenie considered growling that the word "badly" should have been "poorly." But, her master seemed too intent on her beautification for her big blind date.
